Half-Year Project Pan 2020: Finale

Update #5 who? Let’s wrap up this project pan!

Ok, so I have a wee bit of explaining to do yet again. I was supposed to post an update last December, but work got so hectic during that month that it simply was not possible for me to post an update. I was so busy I wasn’t even really using the products (or any products in my collection, for that matter) at some point. And I even had some exciting updates by that point! I just decided to continue on and post a finale, because ultimately that will matter more. And so here we are.

If you want to retrace my steps on my 2020 project pan journey, here are my previous posts:

Status as of last update: 3/6 Goals Reached

Current Update

Let’s go straight to the updates, no time to waste!

1. The Saem Eco Earth Power Tone Up Sun Cream SPF 50+PA++++

Goal: Use it up
Status: Success!

If we are going to be strict about this, I didn’t use this product up. However, I still consider this a success, because I think I’m really just scraping at the final bits of the product (although I wouldn’t be surprised if I get a plot twist and it still lasts for an eternity more). Nevertheless, if I lose this product, I would be sad because it has Seventeen’s Jun on the packaging, but I won’t feel guilty that I didn’t use it enough. And I was able to use sunscreen pretty regularly! I think that is a win. I don’t think I’ll continue to use it on my face, as it has gone beyond the printed expiry date, but I think I’ll try to get the last of it out by trying to use it on my hands, and if that doesn’t work, I’m fine with keeping it as a Seventeen keepsake, which honestly is maybe 70% of the reason I bought it.

2. Smashbox Photo Filter Powder Foundation in shade 01

Goal: Use it up
Status: Goal not reached.

I knew this was most likely not gonna be finished in 2020 but I still wanted to try, and I think there was some progress there. Of course, part of that progress was when some of the pressed powder would crumble off from the pan because some parts were already too thin, and some parts would have hard pan, or both. I used the powder quite regularly except when I got too busy. I did consider decluttering this powder at the end of the year, but given that I don’t have a big collection and this is a powder product, I think I’ll give it more time. I might roll it over to 2021’s project pan, whatever I decide it may be, but I also decided to take a bit of a break from it first, and enjoy my other powders more first.

3. Blistex Bliss Flip in Ultra Moisturizing

Goal: Use it up
Status: Success!

I consider this a success. I have completely flattened the product out, and this is the point where the equivalent in a bullet lipstick would be considering whether to dig the product out from the case or not. (Actually, at this point I have a bit of a dip in it already.) In this case, for purposes of this project pan, I consider this done, and should I decide to toss it at any time, I won’t feel guilty because I definitely used it up. While there is still some product I can dig out, it’s pretty difficult to get and kind of hurts my lips sometimes because my lips already graze the packaging, which isn’t fun. Thus, I have moved on to my other lip balm, and as I keep saying, already consider this done. However, a part of me is curious about what this looks like when all the product is dug out, so I’m still keeping it, but I don’t really focus on it anymore. And should my weird curiosity fade, I can just throw it away free of any guilt. This pleases me, although I know that I can finish up lip balms, it was just a matter of how long (and a matter of not losing the darn thing!).

4. Bio Marine by SeaofSpa Labs Delicage Peeling Mask

Goal: Use twice
Status: Used twice! Goal successfully reached!

I don’t know how this happened, I think this happened even before my supposed December update, which kinda bums me that I didn’t get to post that because this proves it was really a good update. I think I just had some time and energy, realized that I can use this and finally get this off the list, and so I did! I still need to use this some more, although I do have to always check now if this is still good, but I keep my skincare in good storage so hopefully I can still use this some more, this was hella expensive and definitely a purchase I regret. It was a lesson, and a pretty expensive one at that.

5. NUXE Rêve de Miel Honey Lip Balm Ultra Nourishing and Repairing

Goal: Use it up
Status: Success!

Another success! And a very clear one at that. This was really on its way out, and putting it in this project not only gave me the satisfaction of seeing the progress as I used this up, but it also gave me that slight nudge I needed to go ahead and finish it up, as I did get into a bit of a slump at some point. I have another lip balm that I can use as my nighttime lip care product, so I am not yet in the market to purchase a new one. And even though I really like this lip balm, I am not going to repurchase it unless I have no available options, since I believe this is not fungal acne safe and I am really hoping to have a set of fungal acne safe products especially for my skincare, to see if that will help improve my skin since my skin condition falls within that family and so I want to make an effort in that area.

6. KJMCosmetics Lip. Cheek. Tint in Fused

Goal: Use 4 times
I didn’t bother to take a progress photo as there isn’t really any that can be seen visually.
Status: Used four times! Goal successfully reached!

I am happy to report that I reached my goal! I don’t quite remember when I reached my goal, I think it was also in time for my supposed December update? I’m pretty sure at that point the only goal I haven’t reached was the one for my sunscreen. It was a really good update that unfortunately I was unable to post, but hey, it makes this finale a whole lot better!

I am now using my backup tube of this product, and this new tube I use as a lip product as well as it is a fresher tube. After using it several times, I somehow finally figured out how to address the patchiness on my lips when I apply it there, and I am a bit embarrassed to report that the trick was simply to pat the product into my lips. I know, I know, how did I not think of that?! To be fair, I don’t like using my fingers with that product (even though I had to when I use it on my cheeks), because it does stain my fingers. In any case, that’s good to know, and I think I’ll be able to use my new Fused more now. Oh, as for this one, and my other lip and cheek tint in Dolled, I’ll be decluttering them.

Project Finale Status

8 out of 6 goals reached! SUCCESS!!!

I am so happy to have reached more than six goals, and have quite a successful project pan. I was thinking of posting pictures of the other products I reached my goals on, but this is already a very long post and I don’t want to do a part two because I know it’ll take me some time and I want to go straight to this year’s project pan if that’s the case. There were times where I was in a bit of a slump, but I am happy that I was able to push through that and get goals done. This project was a great way for me to figure out how to use my products and appreciate them more and make them work for me, which is amazing because that means I am getting value from them.

I have some ideas for this year’s project pan, but I still need to figure out what products to include this year, and as I’m currently just enjoying what I have, I’m not in the greatest hurry to introduce my 2021 project pan. But since I like the concept I want to go for this year, I hope I can post it soon.

Did you have a project pan last 2020? How did it go? Any tips or lessons to share? Thanks for reading, and see you in my next post!
