Down the TBR Hole #4, s. 2019

From what I understand, Down the TBR Hole first started over at Lost in a Story. I came across this series at Zezee with Books. (A little shoutout as well to the Book Dutchesses because that’s where I saw where the series started.)

So, this is how it works:

  • Go to your Goodreads to-read shelf.
  • Order on ascending date added.
  • Take the first 5 (or 10 if you’re feeling adventurous) books
  • Read the synopses of the books
  • Decide: keep it or should it go?

I have decided on 10 books per batch.

‘Want to Read’ Shelf from last post: 222

Current ‘Want to Read’ Shelf: 222

I think I mentioned before somewhere that I don’t like to have too much of the same kinds of posts in a row, and tomorrow is Seventeen’s comeback, which I will surely post about. I am also in the mood for some form of decluttering, so I thought I’d tackle my TBR again. I really want to start adding books again to my TBR, but I told myself I’m only allowed to do that once I finish one round of purging my TBR shelf. So, motivation.

Note: All images taken from Goodreads, with links in the book titles.

1. Fair Coin by E.C. Myers

The premise of this book is quite interesting, but not enough that I want to keep it in my TBR list.

Decision: LET GO

2. Boundless by Cynthia Hand

I’ve read the first two books in this series, and while I did think of letting this go, I’ve decided to see it through to the end somehow. I am a bit curious as to how this ends. However, if I do another full round of Down the TBR hole and I still find this in my list, there’s a possibility that I’ll let this go. But not today.

Decision: KEEP

3. Howl’s Moving Castle by Diana Wynne Jones

I remember watching the movie and really liking it, so I am interested in reading this book.

Decision: KEEP

4. Reason to Breathe by Rebecca Donovan

The premise does kinda intrigue me a bit, I’m not gonna lie. However, the more I think about it, the more I feel like realistically speaking, I won’t read this. So I think I’ll let this go. But this is probably the opposite of Boundless in the entry above: if I do come across this again, I may end up adding it back or even getting a copy.

Decision: LET GO

5. Nick & Norah’s Infinite Playlist by Rachel Cohn & David Levithan

Wow, this takes me way back. At the time I added this, everyone seemed to have read and love this book. I added this mostly to keep up, but looking at the premise now I am interested for the story. I’ll keep it in for now.

Decision: KEEP

6. The Knife of Never Letting Go by Patrick Ness

For some reason I keep confusing this with the Maze Runner series in my head, as if it was stored in the same entry in my mind’s database. Nevertheless, a look at the blurb kept me intrigued, so I will also be keeping this in my list.

Decision: KEEP

7. The Body Finder by Kimberly Derting

I thought I will be letting this go, but I was quite pulled in by the premise. For now, I am interested in reading this.

Decision: KEEP

8. Vanish by Sophie Jordan

I did finish the first book in this trilogy (I believe it is a trilogy), but I don’t recall particularly loving it. I don’t feel any desire to finish this right now, so I’ll let this one go.

Decision: LET GO

9. A Great and Terrible Beauty by Libba Bray

I’m still slightly interested in this title that I don’t want to let this go, so this will stay in my TBR list for now.

Decision: KEEP

10. Beastly by Alex Flinn

I know this is a fairy tale retelling, but I don’t feel drawn to the story. I think I’ll give this book a pass.

Decision: LET GO

Books remaining in this batch: 6/10

Want to Read’ Shelf after this round: 218

This was a quick round of Down the TBR Hole, and while I didn’t have much to say about the books, I still kept more than half of the ones in this batch. I feel quite okay with this round. I really want to finish this whole TBR list but there’s still a lot more ground to cover. I should probably do this more often if I wanna finish this whole list by the end of this year, but I doubt that will happen. But let’s see in my next round of Down the TBR Hole!
